Todtnauberg is a small German village where Heidegger wrote his famous work 'Sein Und Zeit', but that's about the only connection to the release by Tomoroh Hidari, but the ever changing 'excretive winds of King Ubu' are the inspirations. Tomoroh Hidari has released music on labels as Isolate Records, Lee, Mekobira and others - even when I never heard of those three. All other information is kept secret, but I believe one Oliver Stummer is behind this. The four tracks presented here rhythmic and dark. Forceful beats that are hardly to dance along too, because the musical background is dark and creepy. The whole thing is a bit too synthetic and remote for me. Chaos rules in these beats, but I pass. The same Stummer recorded also as His Namelessness Is Legion a MP3 release called '... That Night She Emitted A Different Silence', which I thought was of much more interest. No rhythm on the foreground, but lots of guitars, treated on the computer. Microsound bumps into ambient and industrial music. Densely layered, at times noise based heaviness, digital clicks and droney. The odd thing is however at the end, with '...And The Quick Kill The Dead', with has vocals (sounding a bit like Edward Ka-spel), and could almost pass on as a popsong. Very nice release. (FdW)

"Humanoid Sound Systems" have released Scanned Synth Pro, a novel VSTI that should have all you music freaks out there mouth-watering...
I had the pleasure to do beta-testing for Scanned Synth Pro and to contribute quite a few presets to its great library.
In consequence I created two short demonstrational tracks, one very "pop", one more hidari-esque; that can be downloaded from humanoid sound system's webpage (where you can also download a demo &/or order scanned synth pro.)

out now on "Record Label Records" is >Ghos Busters III, a compilation of fine electronic music featuring tracks by the likes of Farmers Manual, Sote, Fluorescent Grey, Runzelstirn and Gurgelstock, Brian English and many more. And I'm telling you this because I, of course, also have a track on this cd. As a bonus the cd contains a data section with Max/MSP, Kyma and Reaktor patches by some of the artists, including some olde Reaktor patches by myself.Check out the webstore on Record Label Records webpage!

The Graz, Austria based Radio show and Podcast, "Überklang" featured a Tribute/Memorial for my good friend and Isolate Records founder Wai Cheng, in their last programme. After a few words (in German), there is an hour of music from Isolate releases, showing what a visionary person Wai was, both as a musician as well as label-owner.
Let me recommend the "Überklang" podcast to all the lovers of interesting music. Even though the programme is generally in German, the music to talking ratio is definately worth it for non-german speakers. Those who speak or understand German will definately profit from the information, and should also check out the weblog.

Welcome to 2007: in short, this year will hopefully see some new releases, and I certainly plan to hit the live-stages out there again, after over a year break.

2006 was a good and interesting year that ended with sad news. I had great fun making music, and while it was not the year for another Tomoroh Hidari solo record to come out, I released the first offering from my side project "his Namelessness Is Legion", an ambient/drone album called "Resonant Mindlessness", for free download on Mahorka Records.

2006 also saw the release of "cold crash breakcore", a white label 4 track 12" featuring remixes of the Cold Crash Brothers by Electromeca, Xian, aaaaa and myself on japanese label Mekobira; a track called "The Dreams In The Witchhouse" for a H.P. Lovecraft tribute compilation on "digital vomit/Cock Rock Disco", a collaborative locked groove on Hans Platzgumer's Lemniskate 10", as well as a part in the (also) collaborative effort "Silhouette" by 9E Phalanx on the Entity.be weblabel.

Continuing to work with industrial outfit "Kreuzweg Ost" - our album "Edelrost" on coldspring records got many great reviews, and was also sub-licensed by Russian label IronD, another album might still take some time, but come inevitably. After first try-outs in 2005, I last year started producing with/for up and coming soul/hiphop/R'n'B singer "Nomadee", who allready contributed vocals to my remix of e.stonji's "nowhere n.side". A first collaborative track has been contributed to the "ladie's finest" compilation on Austrian hiphop label Rufzeichen Records, and will hopefully be out soon.

doing the music to two showroom clips/commercials for British sportscar manufacturer TVR via my friends at mangalino productions, as well as some small sound-design jobs etc. I kept busy and interested, and those of you making music can have a small profit of this by checking out "scansynth", the latest version of which, besides being a very fine and interesting synth, contains some preset programmed by yours truely...

with the sad passing away of isolate's wai cheng, the planned release of my 12" ...on the verge of the best madness so far! is now somewhat insecure. Surely the next few weeks will bring news.

I received the shocking news yesterday that Wai Cheng aka Optic who run the Isolate & Dyslexic Response labels, and released my debut cd, has passed away. Details on the cause of death are unknown. I myself, and I am sure all who had the pleasure of knowing him and/or appreciated his music and label-activities will hold him in fond memory as a visionary music lover and great friend. my condolences to his family and friends.

A new, still untitled 12" for isolate records is being finished and will, as a special treat, feature a remix by none less than Dino Felipe of Schematic Records fame. It's release is planned for the first half of 2006.

Out now is the compilation CD "update - das Album" which was released instead of a catalogue for the update exhibition at Kuenstlerhaus Wien. It features the track "HaarPsycorps(rfam)" by Tomoroh Hidari.

In a similar vein - the vanity of writing - tomoroh.com now also features a weblog of aphorisms and aporias posted almost daily by a certain William Blakespeare.

The remix finally evolved into the track "Luciferette and I" on The Necrophonicon album.

the track for the update exhibition at künstlerhaus wien, starting jan 27th, has been finished and will, entitled HaarPsycorps(rfam), be released on a compilation cd the same day. go here for a lot of senseless reading!

inspired by miriam jessacher's original concept, elvis tomoroh will play >sonate für kulturlaute< a piece consisting of field recordings made of people silently reading in their homes in some comfortable position, as well as recordings of the reader's saying the alphabet.

it is about the sounds we create with our body while reading, those that surround us when we are reading and those that underly the fact that we can read - letters.

reading, writing and language (which and because of what we read) are cultural techniques, our living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms are cultural environments filled by the sounds and silences of our civilisation. if we mingle the sounds of the letters with the sounds of the reading we do not yet enter the field of language. this is important, because the piece, although it uses voiced representations of the letter-symbols (of the latin alphabet) is not about spoken language, and probably not even about language as meaningfull sounds. here >kulturlaute> meet >urlaute<.

alas, let it be known that tomoroh hidari has been busy in the vaults of miscatonic acoustics studios working on a brand new live-set (expected in summer), as well as music for a new project together with sicilian sound-villain tirriddiliu. more infos sometimes. also in the works is material which will probably be released under the title "fragments from the waste-time continuum" at some future point in time. absolutely no specifics yet.

still awaited is news from isolate records about the release date of the necrophonicon. i have not been able to estalblish direct contact for some time, so i know nada atm.

out, however, is "mode" a good old fashioned cassette tape by don kamp. 11 tracks about crime, drugs and rock'n roll by your favourite 'ye olde mc' with great artwork and pink cassette. contained is a track with yours madly, a version of 'rue de la gack'. those whose sounds were also magnetised into chrome particles are: whizz vienna, saiko, senz, tony descrimes, dj fester.... ->your chance of purchase. alternatively at goalgetter.

a recording of yesterday's ORF kunstradio broadcast CONTRA*MODULATION is now available for web streaming here. a tomoroh.com subsite, with the hyperlink-enhanced (and maybe even an english) version of the >logofest<, as well as pix and whatever more, is in preparation.

don Kamp, tomoroh hidari's favorite beatnick-mc has recorded a new version of >rue de la gack<, a track which is due to appear on the (still delayed) >necrophonicon> album. the beat was done by hidari himveryself again, showing his dub/hiphop side this time. featuring guest mc senz as well as nice >erotiques francaises< by tone descimes of noirfluo. the track will appear on don kamp's >mode< tape, due in april 2004. see stiege44 for news/orders.

not without some regret i have to announce the cancellation of the "music of eric zann" project at hörfest 04 in graz, due to lack of time in preparation. next live appearance will be on march 12th at wirr at vienna, and will be an improvisation liveact together with vektorsau. details and confirmation at start of next week. it will be posted in the live section, then. the necrophonicon is still not back from pressing plant, but should hopefully arrive at isolate headquarters any day now...

let it be known that...

oliver stummer, tomoroh hidari's photorealistic alias, has two upcoming live-appearances in february and march. date one, february 28th (year of the bored) 2004 will see him perform an adaption of h.p. lovecraft's (again) "the music of eric zann" together with fellow sound-artist alfred lenz and violinist erich wolfesberger at the "hörfest 2004" which will take place at forum stadtpark in graz, austria.

on march 28th oliver stummer will perform CONTRA*MODULATION (googlenglish) live on air for ORF kunstradio. this piece of "radio-art" is a critical analysis of the widespread disease of "format radio" and the growing amount of acoustic pollution caused by it. the performance will most probably take place at ORF radiokulturhaus and be open to visiters. details tbc.

a very new delay algorythm is currently being tested on the necrophonicon, pushing its street date into jan 2004. devan simunovich who is doing the cover artwork is working on finishing the designs, so things are coming together nicely.

to entertain you in the meantime i have put up a 320k encoded version of my alien audio absurdities demo/album complete with cover and psychoacoustic malevolence. please note that these files are not intented to stay online permanently.
